Set in the near future, Spike Jonze’s prescient film follows Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix), a man who develops a relationship with Samantha, an artificial computer operating system, personified with a female voice (Scarlett Johansson).

This is the third in a sequence of three films exploring the place artificial females have occupied in depictions of the future. A summary of underlying theme of the sequence will be given by Gia Milinovich before the screening of Blade Runner on Tuesday 10 October.
