In April 2018 Patrick Thomas was commissioned by RRU news in Liverpool, as part of the capital of culture anniversary, to spend 24 hours responding creatively to live global events. His interactive public intervention Breaking News 1.0 mixed content from passers-by with international news headlines, random imagery and live audio news streams.

With augmented public interaction, breaking news 3.0 is an updated version developed for Design Manchester placed in Fred Aldous window over the duration of the festival.

Headlines can be posted from smartphones through the use of the QR code – directs to a website (character limit) where the headlines are fed in, this refreshes every minute but can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

It’s time for you to break the news.
