Join textile designer Laura Slater to gain insight into recent collaborative works with visual artist Mawuena Kattah, PROCESS | PATTERN | PRINT | PURPOSE. Underpinned by research investigating The Whitworth Wallpaper and Textile Collections. This unique opportunity gives a behind the scenes glimpse of Slater and Kattah’s shared practice, exploring family iconography, image and pattern making, the culmination of which, are large-scale collaborative printed textile works. This session will discuss the importance of design in a gallery context and the long-term collaborative legacy between visual artist and designer, seeking to manifest inclusive representation of learning disabled practitioners in the Design sector.
This exclusive event for Design Manchester 2019 coincides with exhibition ‘Eye Eye’ the culmination works at Colours May Vary, Munro House, Leeds from 16 – 30 November 2019.
