The HSBC UK National Cycling Centre was Britain’s first indoor Olympic cycling track, and since it opened in 1994, has become one of the World’s finest and fastest board tracks. The track is in constant use seven days a week and, thanks to the comprehensive programme of activities for all levels of ability, it is one of the busiest in the world. From elite athletes to novices, the track offers sessions to anyone seeking to experience this exciting sport. Regular users of the track include members of the very successful GB track cycling team, such as Sir Chris Hoy or Laura Trott, as well as local schoolchildren and track enthusiasts.

In July 2011, the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre was expanded significantly with the launch of a new £24Million purpose built indoor BMX Complex. It houses the UK’s only permanent indoor BMX track with seating for two thousand fans.  There are new purpose built offices for British Cycling, the governing body for cycling in Britain. We have  a  comprehensive BMX track programme catering for all riders; from  novice to elite, schoolchildren to masters aged from 18months upwards.

The Mountain Bike trails run through Clayton Vale, a green space through the Medlock River Valley Corridor. The trails are 12km in length comprising of  four different skill levels ranging from easy to expert. The HSBC UK National Cycling Centre is the Trail head for this route.

There is also a Mountain Bike and BMX Skills Zone featuring a pump track and plenty of Technical Trail Features.
